Ce collier fait partie des bijoux qui, à côté du "chayâhuac côzcatl" sont le plus sauvent cités dans nos sources parmi les parures des hautes personnalités. (p. ex. Boban Kalender, Sah4,45. Torq. II 5431 mais il n'apparait pas dans le chapitre que Sahagun consacre proprement aux diverses parures des seigneurs.

En relation avec différents matériaux il est nommé 'teôcuitlacôzcapetlatl' (Sah9,18),
'côzcapetlatl teôxihuitl itlaactoc' (Sah8,56.)
'châlchiuhcôzcapetlatl' (Sah11,12 = Garibay Sah IV 28-9) Il est décrit à cet endroit comme une parure large qui recouvre la poitrine et les épaules et constituée de fines chainettes avec au milieu un disque d'or. D'après U.Dyckerhoff 1970,135-136. Sah4,45 traduit 'the natted neck bands'.
